“ My soul proclaims your greatness Lord! ”
Lord, I can't do it without you!
Dear friends in Christ,
Our theme for Advent is the quiet and powerful song of the Virgin. Mary sings of God's greatness for God looked upon her lowliness, humility, poverty and faith and chose her to bear the Savior of the world!
The shared experience of lowliness, humility, poverty and the need of faith in God is no stranger to our lives in 2009. Ill health, the death of a loved one, financial challenges, stress and more have made for most a tough year. Christmas and its message of hope in God was never a more welcomed guest !
There are many exciting family traditions and Advent/Christmas experiences that we'll enjoy in the next four weeks. The baking of once a year cookies (yum!), the purchasing and exchanging of gifts, decorating the house and hearth with various trees, lights and ornaments, remembering special friends, the Sunday School Christmas program, gathering with family, the wonderful music of Christmas, all are precious. Each can reduce the oldest man or woman to favorite remembrances and awaken the child within.
My prayer this Advent is that after you have walked those familiar roads, you will return again to Christ with wonder, gratitude, and true joy and experience God's love revealed in Jesus Christ who has come to dwell with us. Let us prepare our hearts to celebrate Christmas!
In His love,
P. Dave
